Your donation dollars are applied to direct program costs. Here are some examples of where and how your donation dollars are spent:

• $130  will purchase a small video flip camera used to train and video lawyers, who have the opportunity for instant reply of their "moot court"  type performances, with immediate feedback by highly trained lawyers, judges and professors. (12 flip cameras per training)
• $30 will pay for one wireless portable microphone for our lawyer trainings. Frequently trainings take place in environs with lengthy rainy seasons and hearing the lawyers is very problematic  
• $25 will purchase one portable speaker set for video "instant-reply" playback in lawyer trainings
• $15 will underwrite the costs of a single tripod for our lawyer mock trial videotaping (We typically use 6 tripods per training)
• $2500 will enable LWOB to recruit a self-funding volunteer who then serves as an in-country assessment team member to enable us to frame project needs and deliverables or enablel us to dispatch a lawyer on an urgent action request to attend an arrest or trial of human rights defenders (lawyers or judges)
• $500-$1,000 per month pays for the maintenance of an LWOB in-country office in Kenya, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Rwanda or Mozambique giving us the ability to situate a self-funding volunteer in-country to coordinate our programming needs.

If you would prefer to give a general donation, not targeted to meeting any of the specific needs described above, LWOB suggests a contribution of $1.00 [USD] per day or $365/year.

 If only 3,000 lawyers donated a dollar a day in one year--we could  quadruple our programming while at the same time doubling  the number of countries we are working in. An amazing impact. We have been asked to deliver our programs to such places as Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Uganda. Your contribution now, could put us there in 2010.

Among the many ways we direct donor dolloars, possibly one of the most important is that your $1 per day donation will enable LWOB to urgently respond on short notice to interventions and observations.  It will give us the ability to put a lawyer in the field on 24 hour notice--responding to urgent intervention requests. Although this is one small piece of what LWOB does, it sends a strong clear message to the global community that the global legal community stands ready and poised to respond to legally oriented humanitarian crises. When the world sees lawyers responding to the high profile issues, it enables us to build and rely on that credibility in  our responses to the less well known, but  no less significant, serious humanitarian matters.
