Job Description:
General Administrative Support
Provide meeting management and company event support for the Executive Director and for organization wide initiatives. This includes coordinating meetings as requested (in person, phone calls, and zoom); creating agendas for various meetings, helping to manage weekly staff meetings; and planning staff events.
Provide administrative support to the Executive Director as requested, including calendar management, scheduling meetings, communications drafting, travel cost comparisons, and conference calls.
Help staff stay abreast of important calendar items by sending out periodic reminders (e.g. holiday reminders, password change reminders, meeting reminders, etc.)
Conduct other administrative duties such as attending meetings and taking notes; keeping an organized system for filing business records; researching and compiling data to prepare documents for review by various stakeholders; document filing/printing/mailings; ordering office and technology supplies as needed; organizing and purchasing staff gifts for holidays and other special occasions.
Conduct research and execute special projects and tasks as assigned.
Special Projects
Manage LWOB’s Student Divisions and plan the annual Rule of Law Innovation Challenge competition and final event (in London).
Assist with sending timely thank you notes to donors and tracking communication in the organization’s database.
Assist with Board Meetings (especially with sending out Board Packages and Board Welcome Packages for new members)
REQUIREMENTSBachelor’s Degree preferred
Ability to travel domestically and, potentially, internationally
Based in the Washington, DC Metro area
1-2 Years Experience in administrative work, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
Strong interest in the Lawyers Without Borders mission promoting human rights and the rule of law causes and/or in nonprofits.
Ability to manage programs and work with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Highly organized with experience managing schedules, communicating with high level officials and other professionals, and planning events and/or meetings.
Ability to prioritize assignments; to multitask effectively; and to maintain attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize and collaborate on various organizational activities. Commitment to excellence and problem-solving, efficiently and when working under deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise good judgement and handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Experience with Salesforce and Microsoft Suite a plus, technical aptitude a must.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
English fluency required; fluency in other languages viewed favorably.
This position is primarily remote although occasionally in office time may be required.

LWOB will not be offering internships during the 2025 Fall semester.
LWOB offers unpaid internships to law students and undergraduate students during the summer. Please monitor this page for an announcement of the application period.
Responsibilities
Interns work closely with LWOB attorneys and staff, as well as other interns, to advance LWOB’s rule of law programming. Tasks may include, but are not limited to:
Conducting legal and non-legal research and writing on topics such as human trafficking, child labor, forced labor, wildlife crime, counterterrorism, and election law
Creating and editing educational materials, such as PowerPoints, infographics, videos, and resource documents
Inputting and analyzing data
Assisting with logistics necessary for running our programs
Volunteer
Volunteers are vital to the functioning of Lawyers Without Borders. We rely on the help of talented individuals dedicated to promoting the rule of law across the world. We accept United States and international volunteers. A law degree is not an essential requirement for a volunteer position with LWOB.
Volunteer opportunities vary based on our current projects and activities but are generally limited. We occasionally have the need for assistance on administrative or research projects. Volunteers with language skills such as Arabic, Dari, Spanish, or Kiswahili, could be a key group. We do not generally send volunteers to do projects in the field.
